I can kind of understand how Cody must have felt ,but I can never truly sympathize with his feelings. To put it into words and cut it short , I feel pity for Cody. He found himself in one of the worst situation possible to a kid. His mother's death was bad enough but to see her being raped is a whole new level of trauma. To supposedly see his father's death too, was too much for a little boy. The last scene suggested that he had some sort of telepathic or clairvoyance.

Many unexpected things happened in this chapter. It's to hear that Cody losts his parents Kids always need care from their parents so i think it would be a hard for Cody to overcome those feeling . In the end, when he knew that his dad died i think it means that Cody had found his power and his power will play a big roll throughout this story Pornpat

Cody make me feels sad becaues he lost his mother and father when he was young. without parents kids might face several problems when they grow up. It is hard to imagine how 6 years old child feel when he lost his parent. By the end of chapter 1 it forshadow that cody might have to face sth worse. cody might posses telepathic communication Pitiluk

I know what it is like to lose someone you love. My mom is also dead. I understand what he is going through in this chapter. For me I still got my dad but Cody's dad is so dead right now. This is going a tough time for him to go through but we all know that he can get through this otherwise the story would have ended right now. Towards the end of the story we know that Cody possesses the power to know the future of who will die. I know right away that we are going to see him use this power again in the future. This also means that more people are going to die especially the one he loves. He is going to have to become a man faster than his age.

Once a life time we all have to experienced the feelings of sorrow and being at a dead end, therefore I am truly sympathized Cody for what he had to face in such a young age. The fact that his mother got raped and killed within Cody's sight was truly cruel, and the way that was shown in the book by describing how Cody couldn't hold on and how his voice start breaking into a voice of a bass made feel sorry for what he encountered. Cody Gallas was an ordinary boy that turned into unusual one when his mother and father passed away. His mother was raped by men while she was trying to call dad because they’re lost while driving. This made his father commit suicide because he loved his wife with pure heart. Cody was left with no one except her grandmother. This made me feel so bad for a 14-year old boy. I think life is too bad for him. He could have a better family and teenage life if his parents are still here with him. Honestly, I couldn't imagine on how my life will be without my parents. At the end of chapter 1, the story foreshadows that Cody is not the same Cody. He has changed into a different boy. “A tone one octave below a bullhorn” is showing us that he, in someways, has changed. He seems to have superpowers. He dreamed of her mother and she told him that it’s not time yet for him to pass away from the Earth. He also dreamed of his father shooting himself because his mother was raped and killed. It suggests to me that he might have a power to see the past or even the future.

I am truly sorry for him, though, it was just a fiction, still, this happens in a normal society. It was a tragedy about his mother's death and how she died. Actually, if we look deeply, we could see that this tragedy can happen to anyone, mostly in the society we are living in, I mean murder and rape. It wasn't just his mother, but also his father that had a pathetic mind set on his wife. In my opinion, I think that it is too easy to commit suicide with that reason, maybe it is because the way his wife died, it was awful. This made me think that, if this happen to me, what should I do. I don't have such the ability that Cody has, but still, I have others relatives. If it was me, without others relatives, I would possibly die. When I thought about this, I feel even worse. By the end of the chapter, Cody saw his father's death, that was supernatural. Actually we know that before we read the story, but with that, it explained more about his ability, in another words, to clarified. His mother's death foreshadow in the way of revenge, which may or may not happen along the story. The name of "Journey of the Astropaths," surely it is not about a man that has a job of a window cleaner, it must be about astropaths, and it clearly said that Cody was an astropath.
